Donald Trump chose Sunday to release a substantial list of Congressional endorsements on his social media platform Truth Social. Noticeably absent was career politician Dan Webster from Florida’s 11th Congressional District. Webster has previously claimed a Trump endorsement and is currently being challenged in court over his claims by primary challenger Anthony Sabatini.
In fact Trump endorsed every current member of the Florida delegation with the exception of Dan Webster, Kat Kammack and Laurel Lee. Rino Dan Webster has been quiet on the campaign trail but has continued to duck debates with America First firebrand Anthony Sabatini. Webster’s most visible endorsement of the cycle is that of contrarian Congressman Thomas Massie.
Webster is the current incumbent in Florida 11, which is a central Florida district that includes the pro-Trump stronghold of The Villages. Hopefully the voters in central Florida will be able to see through the lies of career politician Dan Webster and his made-up claims of Trump support. Webster has not issued a statement on his omission as of the time of publication.
Anthony Sabatini currently trails Webster on the fundraising front; however Sabatini far outpaces Webster with sweat equity.
Sabatini regularly labels Dan Webster as a liberal Republican. Webster’s voting record seems to support Sabatini’s claims. First elected to office over 40 years ago, Webster has shown that he simply doesn’t have the stamina for the job any longer. Dan Webster was one of four Republican members of Congress who did not vote on Trump’s post January 6th impeachment. He stated he would be absent from session for medical reasons and did not believe in voting by proxy.
The Villages is a pro Trump stronghold in Florida, and Sabatini is the most pro Trump legislator in Florida’s history. As a state legislator Sabatini once filed legislation to rename Florida’s longest highway to “President Donald J Trump Highway”
The energy between the Sabatini campaign and the Webster campaign has been noticeably different. Webster’s campaign has been fueled by special interest PAC donations including AIPAC while the Sabatini campaign has been largely funded by grassroots donors and activists.
Although Trump has made no endorsement in the race, choosing to omit Webster from his long list of endorsements should speak loudly to the voters in FL-11.
