Carnival Corporation, the world’s largest cruise operator, has announced a major technological upgrade across its entire fleet: all of its ships are now equipped with SpaceX’s Starlink internet service. This move marks a significant improvement in onboard internet capabilities, offering guests and crew faster service, greater capacity, and more reliable Wi-Fi.
Josh Weinstein, CEO of Carnival Corporation, hailed the installation of Starlink as a “game-changer” for enhancing the cruise experience, noting a noticeable increase in guest satisfaction due to the high-speed and dependable internet connection now available on their ships. “We see this technology as a win-win-win it not only enhances guest connectivity but also improves crew welfare and optimizes our onboard operations,” Weinstein explained.

The implementation of Starlink is part of Carnival’s broader strategy to dramatically expand internet accessibility on its ships, which has seen a fourfold increase in bandwidth since 2019. This strategy involves using multiple providers to ensure consistent and reliable internet service that rivals onshore experiences, even in remote ocean areas. The upgraded system allows for continuous equipment monitoring, real-time data sharing between ship and shore, and quicker deployment of new services and features.

The rollout began with Carnival Cruise Line and AIDA Cruises in December 2022 and has since extended to other brands within the corporation, including Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, and others. This expansion supports Carnival’s commitment to providing a seamless digital experience across its fleet of more than 90 ships visiting over 800 ports globally.
With this latest innovation, Carnival continues to set the standard for maritime connectivity, ensuring that guests can enjoy all the digital conveniences of home, whether they are sharing vacation photos, streaming content, or working remotely.
