Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is addressing allegations of misconduct amid accusations of benefiting financially from her connection with a prosecutor involved in the Georgia election interference case.
In a recent extensive 176-page court submission, Willis asserts that she possesses “no financial conflict of interest that would warrant legal disqualification” in the case and affirms there is “no personal conflict of interest” that would necessitate her or her office’s removal.
The filing includes a sworn affidavit from prosecutor Nathan Wade, in which he acknowledges that in 2022, a personal relationship developed alongside their professional association and friendship.
However, the filing underscores that “any personal relationship within the prosecution team does not constitute a disqualifying conflict of interest or otherwise harm a criminal defendant.”
