Football fans were in for a surprise during this weekend’s games as Kansas City Chiefs’ standout tight end, Travis Kelce, took to promoting COVID-19 booster shots in partnership with Pfizer, the pharmaceutical giant. Kelce’s newfound involvement with Pfizer’s latest ad campaign comes as the company seeks to encourage Americans to consider the recently approved booster shots.
The ad, which Kelce shared on his Instagram page last Friday, also made its way onto television screens during both college football on Saturday and NFL games on Sunday. In his post, Kelce emphasized the convenience factor, citing the CDC’s recommendation that individuals due for both the annual flu shot and the updated COVID-19 shot can get them in one go. Kelce showcased his commitment by getting both shots simultaneously, urging viewers to consult their healthcare providers or pharmacists to determine if this approach is right for them.

Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine received the green light from both the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) earlier this month. The vaccine rollout quickly followed this approval, while flu shots have been available since mid-Summer.
The ad cleverly featured Kelce proudly displaying his two Super Bowl rings, emphasizing that individuals can efficiently tackle both their COVID-19 booster and annual flu shot in one visit.
However, reports from around the country have surfaced, indicating that some Americans have encountered difficulties in accessing these shots. Instances include patients struggling to secure appointments or arriving for scheduled appointments only to be informed that they couldn’t receive their vaccinations.
