The election cycle of 2024 has been entertaining so far. Perhaps one of the most entertaining elections in America is one that no one is talking about. Long shot Florida mayoral candidate Peter Johnson has provided much entertainment throughout this cycle. As a “Republican” candidate he has received support from an unlikely group of character including Democrat donors and an unhinged leftist blogger. The one unifying trait that all of his supporters seem to share, they hate Donald Trump.
Johnson’s largest donor has openly shared anti Trump memes on his Facebook page. Recently, local liberal blogger Pierre Tristam went on an unhinged defense of Johnson while simultaneously attacking myself as well as The DC Patriot.

Tristam’s defense of Johnson is filled with many factual inaccuracies and borders on a complete mental devolution into conspiracy theories. Tristam even went as far as to call me a thief.

I presume he made this accusation due to my use of screen shots from his website in a previous article. Should Tristam wish to limit the use of content from his website, perhaps a pay wall would be in order. Tristam then went into a further unhinged rant of incorrect information by calling The DC Patriot “his own website” and “Q-Anon calibrated”.
The reality is that in his own article defending Johnson, Tristam mentions some sort of “cabal” that he has concocted in his own mind. It is actually quite shocking to watch a known liberal blogger develop such unfounded conspiracies.

In typical emotional fashion Tristam managed to close his article with a 1 paragraph rant against Donald Trump.

It remains to be seen if the allegations surrounding the racially charged slurs allegedly uttered by Johnson are true. There certainly has been no evidence stating that they are not, and Johnson himself is yet to issue a statement denying the allegations. It is pause worthy for me when I see a “Republican” candidate being funded and defended by Trump hating leftists, however. Why would Never Trump donors and bloggers be drawn to the campaign of a “Republican” candidate?
Peter Johnson has done little to answer the questions and concerns of Flagler County voters, however it could also be argued that his associations have given those voters even more questions. Flagler County has historically been Trump Country, with Trump taking 59.9% of the 2020 general election vote and 58.3% of the 2016 general election vote. The voters in Johnson upcoming mayoral election will ultimately have to decide if they want to elect a mayor who has more questions than answers about their political alignment, support for the party’s nominee and ability to manage their personal emotions and represent them with class.
Johnson is facing 4 other candidates in his August primary and is currently trailing the field in regard to fundraising.
