The evolution of ballpark offerings has come a long way. Initially featuring basic hot dogs and standard beers, concessions have since expanded to include a variety of snacks, meals, and beverages from local eateries and craft breweries. Now, another addition has emerged: the option to purchase cannabis products at the ballpark.

At the stadium where the Portland Pickles, a collegiate wood-bat baseball team in the West Coast League, play, fans can now purchase Cycling Frog THC Light Seltzer in two flavors: passionfruit and lemon. Each can contains 2 milligrams of THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) and 4 mg of CBD (cannabidiol), and sales are restricted to individuals aged 21 and older.

THC is the psychoactive compound in cannabis, while CBD is non-psychoactive. Oregon has legalized cannabis for both medical and recreational purposes for several years, and the Pickles ensure that sales comply with regulations governing THC.

Ross Campbell, the team’s vice president of business development, emphasized the Pickles’ role in pioneering innovative partnerships within the sports industry. Previously, in 2019, the team was the first to partner with a CBD company, setting a precedent that other sports teams, including those in Major League levels, have since followed.
