Maren Morris made a significant personal announcement while commemorating Pride Month over the weekend.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, the Grammy-winning singer shared, “Happy to be the B in LGBTQ+. Happy pride,” revealing her identification as bisexual. Her post garnered widespread praise and support from followers.
While this marks the first time Morris has publicly disclosed her bisexuality, she has long been an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. In 2022, Morris collaborated with GLAAD and Trans Lifeline to raise funds for transgender youth, following backlash she faced for defending trans individuals on social media.
The subsequent year, Morris appeared as a guest judge on “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” expressing her admiration for the contestants and addressing the historical exclusion within the music industry. She conveyed her remorse for the past, acknowledging, “Coming from country music and its relationship with LGBTQ+ members, I just want to say I’m sorry and I love you guys for making me feel like a brave voice in country music. So I just thank you guys so much for inspiring me.”
Following her separation from fellow singer-songwriter Ryan Hurd in 2023, after five years of marriage, Morris continues to co-parent their young son.
