Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid and star quarterback Patrick Mahomes are backing kicker Harrison Butker after his recent speech supporting traditional values came under fire.
When a reporter suggested Butker was speaking negatively about women, Reid didn’t hold back.
“I don’t think he was speaking ill to women. He has his opinions, and we all respect that. I let you guys in this room, and you have a lot of opinions that I don’t like,” Reid retorted.
Mahomes, reflecting on his seven-year relationship with Butker, defended his character. “I judge him by the character he shows every single day. He’s a good person, someone who cares about those around him, cares about his family, and wants to make a positive impact on society.”
Reid emphasized the diversity within the team. “Everybody is from different areas, different religions, different races, and so we all get along. We all respect each other’s opinions,” he said. “It’s a great thing about America, man. And we’re just, like I said, a microcosm of that, and my wish is that everybody could kind of follow that.”
