Happy Wednesday, America!

Some of our greatest moments began with a step, like the first step on the moon (or at least a first step on the movie set), or Trump’s first step across the North Korean border. Some seemingly smaller steps are just as consequential, like a baby’s first step, or that first step onto a dance floor after saying “I do”.

Yesterday, I also took a very consequential step. With a cane in each hand, I was able to walk unassisted for the first time in roughly 9 months, when I had my right leg amputated just above the knee.

My whole life changed after that moment. I was once a well seasoned athlete and suddenly couldn’t walk. Heck, I couldn’t even work, and the only thing scarier than not having a leg was trying to figure out how I was going to care for my young daughters or help my mother who struggles with dementia.

But thanks to God, the amazing doctors and staff at Mercy Hospitals and Tulsa Hillcrest Heart Hospital, and you, I have found a way to get back on my feet, or foot rather, now that I’m learning to walk on my prosthetic leg.

While the step I took yesterday towards regaining some semblance of independence, I still have a long road to go. Just as I rely on my faith and my family for the strength, love, and support I need to get through this difficult time, I also rely on you, my friends, to help me stay afloat financially while I keep fighting to get stronger.

I humbly ask if you could please consider supporting my GiveSendGo campaign. And to all of you who’ve donated, and those who’ve donated more than once (there are many of you), I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

If the election were today, who would you be voting for?

By completing the poll, you agree to receive emails from The DC Patriot, occasional offers from our partners and that you've read and agree to our privacy policy and legal statement.

Without you, the many answered prayers, and the amazing doctors who saved my life, I’m not sure where I’d be right now. Thank you so much for your support.

God Bless, Matt Couch
