President Biden issued an apology for referring to Laken Riley’s killer as an illegal alien during a recent interview with NBC News host Jonathan Capehart. The President expressed regret for his choice of words during his State of the Union address, acknowledging that he should have used the term “undocumented” instead.
“I shouldn’t have used illegal, it’s undocumented,” he told MSNBC.
During his address, Biden also made the unfortunate error of misnaming Riley as “Lincoln” not once, but twice. However, he has yet to issue an apology for this mistake.

“Look, when I spoke about the difference between Trump and me, one of the things I talked about in the border was his, the way he talks about vermin, the way he talks about these people polluting the blood. I talked about what I’m not going to do. What I won’t do. I’m not going to treat any, any, any of these people with disrespect,” Biden said.
The tragic death of Riley has become a focal point for Republicans, who argue that it exemplifies the Biden administration’s handling of the U.S-Mexico border amidst a surge of illegal crossings.
In response to criticisms, Biden defended his approach, emphasizing his commitment to treating individuals with respect and dignity, unlike his predecessor.

Trump campaign senior adviser Chris LaCivita condemned Biden’s response, highlighting the lack of apology to Riley’s family and criticizing the President’s handling of the situation as “tone-deaf.”
“He should be apologizing to the family as opposed to apologizing for the word that he used which is an accurate description,” he told reporters before Trump took the stage.
LaCivita emphasized the clear contrast between Biden’s approach and that of Trump, characterizing one as sympathetic and coddling, and the other as focused on putting an end to the border invasion.
