Nikki Haley will soon lay claim to a victory in the District of Columbia -Washington, D.C., Republican presidential primary, marking her first win in the GOP nomination race, as reported by Decision Desk HQ.
According to data from DDHQ, Haley secured 1,274 votes, surpassing former President Trump’s 676 votes with all precincts accounted for.

This laughable victory in the D.C. swamp comes as a significant break in the trend that saw Trump triumph in over half a dozen previous contests.

Despite committing to stay in the race at least until Super Tuesday, where a slew of states will cast their votes, Haley has yet to secure a win in any early-voting states from January to February. Looking forward, no upcoming state appears to offer a straightforward opportunity for her to clinch victory.

Nevertheless, Haley’s win in the winner-takes-all D.C. primary awards her all 19 delegates from the district. Voting in the capital occurred over three days, spanning from Friday to Sunday.

Trump maintains a massive lead in the delegate count, a position that is expected to strengthen significantly with the additional states casting their votes on Tuesday. Candidates must secure a minimum of 1,215 delegates to secure the Republican nomination mathematically.
Meanwhile, the Democratic primary in Washington, D.C., is scheduled for June.
Of course Nikki Haley can win in the swamp, is anyone surprised?
