After securing a resounding victory in the New Hampshire primary, former President Donald Trump maintains a commanding lead over former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley among GOP primary voters.

The most recent national survey by Rasmussen Reports, conducted through a combination of telephone and online polling, unveils that a robust 56% of Likely Republican primary voters would throw their support behind Trump if the primary were to occur today. In contrast, Nikki Haley secures 23% of the vote, with 11% favoring other candidates and 10% still deliberating.

The survey, which encompassed 679 Likely Republican Primary Voters, took place between January 28 and 30, 2024, under the aegis of Rasmussen Reports. It carries a margin of sampling error of +/- 3 percentage points, with a confidence level of 95%. The fieldwork for all surveys by Rasmussen Reports is executed by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC.

Examining the demographic breakdown, among those expressing at least some likelihood of participating in their state’s GOP primary, Trump enjoys greater support from men, with 61%, compared to women, who register at 51%.

In a previous December survey, conducted before the exits of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy from the GOP campaign, Trump held a 51% lead against Haley’s 13%. Fast forward to the New Hampshire primary last week, and Trump secured 54% of the vote, overshadowing Haley’s 43%. The upcoming Republican contests on the horizon are the Nevada caucuses scheduled for February 8, followed by the South Carolina primary on February 24.

Analyzing the ideological spectrum, Trump enjoys robust support among likely GOP primary voters, with 58% of white voters, 43% of black voters, and 58% of other minority voters firmly in his corner. He boasts a staggering 60-point lead among those identifying as conservative, commanding 75% support, while Haley leads among liberals, with Trump and Haley running neck and neck among moderate voters.

It’s worth noting that the sample of 679 Likely Republican Primary Voters was extracted from a larger pool of 943 U.S. Likely Voters. An impressive 72% of all Likely Voters express a likelihood of participating in this year’s GOP primaries, with 58% characterizing it as a “Very Likely” scenario. Notably, a significant portion of those likely to vote in the primaries do not align themselves with the Republican Party.

Diving deeper into the party affiliations, 94% of self-identified Republicans deem it at least somewhat likely that they will participate in the GOP primaries. Furthermore, 55% of Democrats and 68% of voters unaffiliated with either major party express a similar inclination.
